From Castle Douglas, follow the A713 north through Crossmichael and Parton, pass Loch Ken Marina and the farms of Drumrash and Little Drumrash. The road narrows and bends crossing Arvie burn before rising to a crest, then dipping and widening to a long straight. Do not accelerate at the crest as you turn right onto the access track into what appears to be the second field entrance.

From Ayr follow the A713 south through Casphairn and St. John’s town of Dalry. Continue south passing the Ken Bridge Hotel and the Galloway sailing centre. There are then three bends marked with chevrons followed by a stretch of wider straight road. The track to Nether Ervie is on the left, shortly before the road begins to rise.

Access to Nether Ervie from the A713 is via a concrete track ( after a short length of tarmac), which leads from a cattle grid adjacent to some sheep pens.
