For those who love the spectacular scenery of South West Scotland and Loch Ken in particular, is reason enough to enjoy some time at Nether Ervie.

If you need exercise and entertainment, there is plenty to be found nearby.

There are numerous Golf courses, opportunities for fishing are available on the Loch a few minutes walk away. There are many walks, the Southern Upland way being just a few miles away.

The Red Kite trail is nearby and the Red kite can sometimes be seen over the wood at Nether Ervie.

The Forestry commission organises large tracts of the area, the raiders road can be driven through the forest on the opposite side of Loch Ken.

Loch Ken Sailing and activity Centre is one mile to the north, Loch Ken Marina and water ski school is half a mile to the south.

The Ken Bridge Hotel, four miles up the road provides excellent food and cask ale at reasonable prices. Six miles in the other direction is the Thistle Inn in Crossmichael where you will get a warm welcome. The food town of Castle Douglas has a large number of cafes and hotels. Half an hour away in Kirkcudbright you can visit the Selkirk Arms for a really splendid meal.

Ayr, on the west coast is less than an hours drive up the A713, a run through beautiful countryside and lochs.

Most of the roads in the area will provide an enjoyable run out, whether it be the A712 from New Galloway to Newton Stewart; a run down to Southerness; or a trip around the Isle of Whithorn
